Port de Sóller is the gateway to diving in the Serra de Tramuntana, on Mallorca's north-west coast. Its sheltered bay and the surrounding cliffs give way to rocky seabeds, caves and gorgonian walls home to groupers, moray eels and octopuses. It combines easy dives for beginners inside the bay with more demanding trips out to the exterior walls.
Yes. The sheltered bay of Port de Sóller offers calm conditions ideal for a try dive: local centres run it with a certified instructor in shallow water, with no certification or previous experience required.
The seabeds of Port de Sóller are rocky, with caves, cracks and gorgonian-covered walls. You will commonly find groupers, moray eels, octopuses, sea bream and shoals of damselfish, plus nudibranchs on the wall sections.
From May to October. In summer the water exceeds 24 °C and visibility is at its best; from October the temperature drops but the sea is usually calm. Many centres reduce activity in winter.
Guided dives require at least Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent). Non-certified divers can start with a try dive or enrol in an Open Water course at the centre itself.
