The Bay of Palma is the perfect base for wreck diving in southern Mallorca.
The Bay of Palma is the perfect base for wreck diving in southern Mallorca. Its star site is the Isla del Sec, where the Clara and Regina Maris rest, forming an artificial reef inhabited by groupers and shoals of fish. Just minutes from the airport and the city, Palma is ideal for divers who want to dive on their arrival day, and it is also the departure point for trips to the Cabrera National Park.
The Isla del Sec holds two old sunken fishing boats, the Clara (around 18 metres) and the Regina Maris (around 29 metres), forming an artificial reef. It is one of the most popular dives in the south and draws divers from across Europe.
The Regina Maris, at close to 30 metres, is recommended for Advanced Open Water divers or equivalent. The shallower Clara is accessible to Open Water divers accompanied by a guide. Each centre matches the trip to the group's level.
Yes. Cabrera is a maritime-terrestrial national park with regulated access and a limited number of permits; centres handle the authorisations and run boat trips. It is famous for its giant groupers and its almost pristine state.
