Santa Eulària, on Ibiza's east coast, is the gateway to the north-eastern coast marine reserve and the islet of Tagomago. Its seabeds combine walls, shoals and posidonia meadows with protected wildlife that has grown denser in recent years. It is a quiet, family-friendly area, with centres offering everything from try dives to reserve dives for certified divers.
The north-eastern Ibiza–Tagomago coast marine reserve protects a stretch of sea off Santa Eulària. It holds walls, shoals and posidonia meadows with dense wildlife; diving is only allowed with valid certification through authorised centres.
Dives inside the reserve require certification (Open Water minimum) due to its protected status. If you are not certified, you can start with a try dive in nearby waters and then train to access the reserve.
On the walls and shoals of Tagomago and Punta Grossa it is common to see groupers, barracuda, moray eels, octopuses and shoals of fish over posidonia meadows, a key ecosystem for the island's biodiversity.
June to September offers the best temperature and visibility, though the diving season spans May to October. The east coast is usually sheltered from westerly winds.
